The Northeastern Section is now accepting nominations for Section and AUA committees as well as AUA Awards.
Section Committees Open for Nomination:
All nominations will be forwarded to the Nominating committee for consideration. In some cases, the nomination will be forwarded to the President for review and appointment. If you want to become involved, please send a 100-200 word statement of interest to info@nsaua.org.
Program Committee
Members are appointed to the Program Committee by the President on an annual basis for the purpose of planning the Scientific Program for the annual meeting. Committee members will be asked to determine needs assesment and learning objectives for the program, provide suggestions for guest speakers, review and score abstracts, review disclosures, and serve as moderator in one or more sessions at the annual meeting. Members of the Program Committee must be committed to attending the annual meeting, and devote approximately 2-3 hours of time for review of abstracts and participation in conference calls.
At least three (3) members are appointed annually by the President.
Development Committee
Members are appointed to the Development Committee on an annual basis for the purposes of obtaining sponsor support of the educational efforts of the Section. The Chairman of the Development Committee and additional members of the Committee assigned by the Chairman shall attend the Annual meetings of the American Urological Association and/or the Canadian Urological Association for the purpose of obtaining sponsor support for the educational efforts of the Northeastern Section.
Members are appointed annually, with consideration of equal representation among Canada, New York and Pennsylvania.
AUA Awards Available for Nomination.
Nominations are received by the Section Nominating Committee, approved by the Section Board, then submitted to the AUA for consideration in November of each year. Award winners will be notified in January and awarded at the AUA Annual Meeting the following May.
Ramon Guiteras Award
The Ramon Guiteras Award may be awarded annually to an individual who is deemed to have made outstanding contributions to the art and science of urology. This award is sponsored by Bard Urological Division.
Hugh Hampton Young Award
The Hugh Hampton Young Award may be presented annually to an individual for outstanding contributions to the study of genitourinary tract disease. This award is sponsored by Karl Storz Endoscopy-America, Inc.
Gold Cystoscope Award
The Gold Cystoscope Award may be presented annually to a urologist distinguished by outstanding contributions to the profession within thirteen (13) years of completing residency training. This award is sponsored by Gyrus ACMI an Olympus Group Company.
Residency must be completed no earlier than following date: June of year of the AUA Annual Meeting where the award will be presented minus 13 years.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award may be presented annually to an individual, at least 25 years following completion of residency, who has been deemed to have made outstanding contributions to advance the mission and goals of the the American Urological Association.
Indications for consideration would be: a successful residency program; success in research; successful coordination of other departments; successful productivity in the national AUA; conducting seminars; and international activities.
Eugene Fuller Triennial Prostate Award
The Eugene Fuller Triennial Prostate Award may be given once every three years to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the study of the prostate gland and its associated diseases. This award is endowed by a trust fund established by the family of the late Dr. Eugene Fuller.
Nominations for this award are only accepted every three years (2013, 2016, 2019, etc.)
Victor A. Politano Award
The Victor A. Politano Award may be presented annually to an individual (e.g. urologist, basic scientist, researcher, biomedical engineer, etc.) for outstanding research and work in the field of incontinence and for enhancing the treatment of incontinent patients, thereby helping to improve their quality of life. This award is endowed by a trust fund established by Dr. & Mrs. Politano and the Applebaum Foundation.
William P. Didusch Art and History Award
The AUA William P. Didusch Art and History Award may be presented annually to promote and recognize contributions to urological art, including but not limited to illustrations, sculpture, still photography, motion pictures and television productions. This award may also be presented for lifetime contributions to the history of urology.
Distinguished Contribution Award
The Distinguished Contribution Award may be presented annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the science and practice of urology, including but not limited to, contributions made in a sub-specialty area, for military career service, or for humanitarian efforts.
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award may be awarded annually to individuals who are deemed to have made outstanding contributions to the goals of the American Urological Association.
Gold Cane Award
The Gold Cane Award may be presented annually to a senior urologist distinguished by outstanding contributions to the profession and to the American Urological Association, and who has not previously been recognized in any other way.
